B's House

Welcome to the B House...

Here is the current photo of the front of the house:

The first things I would do to increase curb appeal to this house would be to pressure wash the driveway and install a new front door

Moving into the house, here is the current view of the foyer:

Replacing the white tile with a warm stone tile would create a great feel as you enter the home and give some texture that will be more inviting than the current tile. I would paint the foyer the same neutral color we decide on for the living room and kitchen.  I would paint the dining room a dark grey, but keep the bottom a lighter trim color to keep the room airy. Finally, updating the chandelier and adding a warm and rustic dining room table with elegant formal chairs would tie everything together.  Here is a sketch of the proposed ideas...

Here is the current view of the kitchen...

The first thing I would do to update this kitchen would be to get new appliances. If the budget allows, I could do a reconfiguring of the layout to maximize the available space.  However, if you would like to leave the kitchen as it is laid out now, then I would update the cabinets with new cabinet and/or doors, and add cabinets to extend to the ceiling. The primary paint color would be the neutral color selected for the living room and foyer. A refreshing backsplash would liven up the space next to the sink and on the office wall as well.  Last, I would install new countertops and set the entire kitchen off by adding a new faucet, lighting, and hardware.  For an added touch, we can paint the island a different color than the wall cabinets.
The possibilities are really endless with this kitchen, its just really depends on the budget and style preference. Here are some inspiration pictures that would be a good launch pad for this kitchen...

I saved this photo because it is possible to add to the length of your island countertop to have additional shelving or stool space. This countertop is a combination between quartz and butcher block. Love it!

Neutral Paint Colors:

Next, we are moving into the living room...

First, I would remove some of the trim and shelving off of the built-ins. If the room feels like it needs more color, we can paint the built-ins an accent color.  Then I would freshen up the room by replacing the carpet with matching hardwoods. If we can't find a match for the hardwoods, we can take the foyer stone tile into the living room and that would be GORGEOUS! The paint color would be best as a neutral color that matches the foyer, hallways, and kitchen. With these beautiful windows, there is so much potential for natural light! If this were my home, I would remove all of the window treatments to brighten the space as much a possible. New lighting and door hardware would update the room, and the icing on this cake would be to update the fireplace mantel and hearth. I would try to incorporate the stone we use in the foyer! Here are some inspiration photos...

On the other side of the living room is the staircase...

I would add some wainscoting, shiplap, or board and baton to the angular wall to add texture. Here are some examples...

On to the master bathroom...

For the master bathroom, I would paint the room with a refreshing neutral color. I would replace the current tile with a marble tile that extends to the wall surrounding the stand alone bathtub. The current cabinets can stay as-is, or you can replace them and/or the doors.  New sconces, hardware, faucets, mirrors, doorknobs would update the entire bathroom as well.  I can find a beautiful decorative stool to use under the vanity space as well as a rug for the center of the bathroom.  Last but not least, a stunning chandelier to hang in the middle of the bathroom. As for the shower, I would replace the door with a frameless glass door for an update and it makes a breeze out of cleaning! Here are bathrooms that are inspiring me for this bathroom right now...

For the bathroom I would go with a smooth warm greige- I like Pale Oak Grey by Benjamin Moore as an option to try.
